Our Beauty Confessions

We can't be good a everything in the beauty world, right? So we decided to share with you our (secret) beauty confessions!

Lucie's Confessions

1: Liquid Eyeliner
I cannot use liquid eyeliner, at all!I either put on too much, too little, its not even or when I try to correct it, it smudges all over my eye. Ultimate fail.

2: Nail Polish Addict
I used to have the really bad habbit of biting my nails, and I found the only way to stop it was to always have my nails painted. Subsequently I have about 80 nail polishes, and paint my nails every 2 days.

3: Fake Tan Woes
I am so pale, and I wish I could have that golden glow. But after the first time I used fake tan, and it went horribly wrong (hello patchy), I've decided to embrace the pale-ness!

4: The Ultimate Beauty Sin
I probably should admit this, but I am known to often fall asleep with my make up on...I know there's no excuses, but after commuting to work I'm so tired and end up falling asleep. Oops...

Lucy's Confessions

1: Lazy Brows
I really should keep on top of plucking my eyebrows, but I am lazy, so I don't. My sister despairs! She spends a considerable amount of time making them neat, then I just neglect them... sorry sis!

2: Bad with my Brushes
This is something I really need to get a hold on. I KNOW that I should clean my brushes weekly, but no matter how strict I am with other parts of my beauty routine, somehow the brush washing part rarely happens.

3: Batiste is my Best Friend
There was a time when I washed my hair daily, but I discovered that it really wasn't doing my hair that many favours. So I completely shook up my routine and now only wash my hair twice a week. Doesn't it get greasy? You ask. Well, yes it does a little bit, only around my face, (if I looked like a chip pan I would wash it),  so to deal with that I just spray my hair with dry shampoo, until it is white, and then go to bed, in the morning it looks fine!

4: Not Fussed about my Nails
I am one of those people who will leave my nail polish on for as long as possible. My nails chip pretty much instantly, so I can't be bothered to be too precious about it. But I know, once it's got to a certain point, that I should take it off, and by that I mean with remover, not chip it off, (which I am also guilty of doing!).

We've told you ours, so what are your beauty confessions?

Soaps are Back: The Yorkshire Soap Company

Browsing in the Yorkshire Soap Company one day I stumbled across the most adorable soaps shaped like little sheep. How could I resist?
Coming in a variety of scents, lavender, wild rose and marigold to name a few, containing sheep milk, almond oil and shea butter.

I chose a lavender one to use in the evening to help me relax, and I couldn't believe how well it worked after one use. I had a pesky dry patch under my arm, nearly gone! I also use it to shave my legs to give a really smooth finish, and it prevents my skin from drying out and flaking.

(after about 10 uses)

What I love about these soaps is that they are so creamy and moisturising, and they look as if they will last forever! And at only £4.50 each they make really cute gifts as well, especially coming in such pretty packaging. After buying one I went out to get another few for myself and Lucy!

You can find these soaps at the Yorkshire Soap Company shops in either York or Hebden Bridge.

My Current Favourite Scent : The Yorkshire Soap Company

It all started one day when Lucy said 'have you been into the Yorkshire Soap Company?' Nestled away near York minster stands a little gem of a shop where all your soap/body lotion/bath salt/bath bomb (you name it) dreams come true.

In the entrance stands tables full of cake shaped soaps and bath bombs that look good enough to eat! Further in through the shop the walls are lined with shelves containing bath bombs, shower gel, bubble bath and body lotion, split into different scents, with old style basins underneath filled with the co-ordinating bath salts. After a good sniff my instant favourite was No3 Macaroon, a sweet scent with coconut and french vanilla.

Lucy was kind enough to get me the bath bomb for my birthday. After using it I was hooked, and quickly snapped up the body lotion which I've been wearing it ever day since, skipping perfume altogether.
As well as having an amazing smell, it moisturises really well. Containing sweet almond oil it keeps my skin feeling smooth all day.

So if you're ever in York, I'd recommend a visit! They also have a shop in Hebden Bridge.

You can buy these products at The Yorkshire Soap Company shops or on their website.

LuLin Tea Review

Hello!

So our second YouTube video went up today, in which we are reviewing some lovely teas sent to us by LuLin, a York-based company that specialises in Chinese and Loose Leaf Teas. Here is that review, and a couple of close ups of the products...

The teas were fabulous and we really enjoyed filming for this video!

(Information below is taken from www.lulin-teas.com)

Posh Earl Grey: A LuLin Teas take on the English favourite Earl Grey. LuLin Teas have added bright blue corn flowers and zesty orange flowers to create our wonderful Posh Earl Grey Blend. Add a slice of lemon, drink with milk or keep it black for three very different taste sensations.

Lapsang Souchong: The strong smoky scent absorbs you without overwhelming the palate allowing you to enjoy the sweetness the base tea possessed prior to being pine smoked.

Ginseng Oolong: It is made by rolling Oolong leaves into tight balls and coating them in a thin layer of ginseng and liquorice grass. When brewed it is fairly sweet and has a hint of liquorice.

Have you tried any teas from LuLin? We'd love to hear what you think!

If not, leave us a comment (or tweet us @LucyArtley or @LucieClark) suggesting some more teas for us, as we said in the video, we're from Yorkshire, so it's only natural for us to love tea!
